Inspiration

Yesterday I stumbled upon Alisa Burke's blog.  Have you found it yet? Well, you need to!

As an artist, sewer (I don't like the word seamstress.. it's too professional), Photographer (that's a professional word, and well, I am a professional photographer :), and lover of all things art, I immediately fell in love.

I mean, how could you not?  The vibrant color, the life, the inspiration just pours out of her work.

I have so many ideas floating around my head.  The first one, pulling out my dusty sketch book.  sigh.  I miss my art.

But now I am inspired!  I have a plan for tonight and it includes art.  If it turns out half way decent, I might share.

Competition!!!

Remember the competition idea I threw at you recently?  Well, we're starting on MONDAY!

So, here it is!

You need to make a spring related craft!  That's pretty open ended, but that's the competition. :)
On Monday I will make a new post with a linky party for you to add your craft.  You have until Friday the 18th at midnight (central time) to add your creation.  On Monday our winner will be announce.

Easy enough.

But here is the fun stuff.

Our judge this time around will be Jaime from C.R.A.F.T.
She's super sweet and has some really great ideas.  Go and check her out.  You won't be disappointed.

And the PRIZE!!!!

Remember the AWESOME fabric prize Kim won from the last competition?

Well, Christy from Lily Bella Fabrics is giving away a $20 gift certificate to our winner!!!

So, start creating!

Check out my new dress TUTORIAL!

Today I guest posted over at Julie's blog Creative Tastes.

It's a super cute spring/summer dress (or even a tunic) for a little girl.  You could easily modify the dress and make an adult version.  It was super cheap and VERY easy!

Head over to see the full tutorial.
Thanks, Julie!!!

Anniversary

Today Dan and I celebrated 8 years of marriage.

It's been a roller coaster ride.  Always exciting and sometimes scary, but I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else!

We share a lot of great memories even in the midst of a whole lot of hard times.  We've struggled through.  We've lost a child, had a miscarriage, a few job losses, financial hardships, blah blah blah.  But what we have that I love - strength to endure. Faith in God that pulls us through and guides us.  4 amazing children.  Laughter.  Sarcasm.

We have learned that love is NOT a feeling!  It is a choice!  Some days that choice is harder than others, but it is ALWAYS worth it!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DAN!

I love you!

Update and Giveaway (?)

I'm stumped on the fabric for the bedroom.  Maybe I picked a bad color pallet.   Until I find something, you won't see too much on the bedroom.  Maybe you're ok with that, anyway! :)

Anyone up for another competition????  I'm working out the details now, but I assure you, the prize will probably be as awesome as last time! I mean, I can't make it lame now that the last one made everyone but Kim (the winner) jealous!  I don't want to give away too much, but I'm thinking spring! Who isn't?

And in other news... The Idle Iron Man challenge started yesterday.  Liz and I will be running 26 miles, biking 112 miles and swimming 2.4 miles by the end of the month.  Yesterday we ran 3 and I biked 4.  I took today off because I'm sore!  But tomorrow... we swim.  The pounds are already shedding.  My pants are looser!  WOOHOO!  Bye-bye fat self!

First Quilt Square EVER!

For my wild card project for SYTYC (season 3) last year, Danielle from Drawstring Studio, gave me the gorgeous fabric!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE her store but do not get down there (Milwaukee) enough! She does, however, have an etsy store.

Anyway, last month she asked me if I would be interested in doing a virtual quilting bee.  For those of you who don't know what that is (I didn't either), there are 12 of us in the group.  At the beginning of each month, one of us gets to send out enough fabric and quilt square instructions to each of the other 11 ladies.  At the end of the month, we get 11 completed quilt squares... all ready to put together a quilt!  So cool!  But there was one hitch... I've never quilted before.  I figured... how hard can it be though.

So, At the beginning of February, I got my fabric from Danielle for the first square.  Of course the fabric she sends is AMAZING!  You better believe I'm heading down to the store to have her help me pick out the fabric for my squares when it's my month!

Anyway, here is my very first quilt square ever!  Not bad for a first time, but there are some mistakes.  eeek.  I feel hideous that there are ANY mistakes being that the fabric wasn't mine.  Hopefully she will forgive me!

Amazing fabrics, right?  Just love it!

Here is the link for the instructions to make this easy quilt square.
